H.E. Dr. Rabaa Al Sumaiti is currently the Director-General of Emirates Schools Establishment, the federal entity that manages and operates all the public schools in the UAE. Her current responsibilities involve organizing and managing the schools through school operations and school development, as well as overseeing the needs of the school's staff and students. Her Excellency previously worked as the Assistant Undersecretary for Quality Development in the Ministry of Education. Her responsibilities involved school evaluation, national and international assessments, and licensing private institutions (schools, nurseries). She was also responsible for organizing and planning the professional development and training programs for public schools. In addition, she has worked jointly with the Higher Education team in planning for the new teacher licensing project, and was involved in the development of early childhood programs in the UAE. She has extensive experience in international assessments having worked as the Executive Director of International Assessments in the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai. As part of her responsibilities, she led analysis and the national reports projects in Dubai for TIMSS, PIRLS and PISA. She also led school principal and teacher training programs on how to use international assessments results and how to link those results to school assessments.Dr. Rabaa holds an EdD in International Management of Education from the British University in Dubai, jointly with the University of Birmingham, UK, and MEd in Special Education from the University of Bristol, UK.
